This additional workshop has been organised for partner universities to have practical sessions and team work on the preparation or improvement of their Strategic Plans and also on the creation or update of their Internal Procedures for Internal Quality Assurance.The four days have been a mixture of theory, practice and discussions lead by the University of Alicante specialists in Quality Assurance and also from University College Cork, with experts on both Strategic Planning and QUality Assurance.The FOCUS team has also been delighted with the attendance of the Lybian Quality Assurance Age
The workshop on strategic planning has been hosted by the University of Alicante with the participation and contribution of all FOCUS partners.We had the possibility to have an in-depth look of the strategic planning procedures of the University College of Cork (Ireland), but also to the ones of Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and the University of Alicante so that project partners can bring to their home universities knowledge and know how to be adapted within their national context.
Following the planned activities, the Libyan delegates gathered in a 2-day training where they received core concepts on EFQM Excellence Model and Key Management Processes and draft of self assessment of university services.The workshop has been held in Tunisia in October 2013. The knowledge acquired by participants will be used by them in order to draft their Self Assessment Report on one of their University services selected by partner universities.The workshop included both theoretical as well as practical exercises.
The FOCUS Delegation from Libya visited University College Cork (UCC) on the 22nd and 23rd May, 2013. The delegation comprised eight people, representing three Libyan universities, namely: Omar Almukhtar University; University of Benghazi and the Libyan International Medical University.
The first training to the Libyan universities on institutional assessment process was delivered on 13th and 14th November in Tunisia. Quality managers and key staff were invited to discuss the concerned topic. During the two-day training, our Libyan counterparts gained insights on the institutional assessment process from both Spanish and Swedish perspectives. Following this training, the group will visit our Irish partners next year and prepare their self assessment reports.Presentations can be found in the extranet.
Leaded by the University of Alicante (UA), the European Union has launched a prime project with Libyan universities in quality assurance (QA) under its Tempus programme. The first meeting of this bilateral cooperation was held on 5th and 6th of March in Alicante to discuss the work ahead.
During the event, Libyan universities top Management had the opportunity to visit university of Alicante Quality office and to meet the Qulity assurance staff in order to be familiar with quality assurance infrastructure, procedure and practices in EU universities.
